Children’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Introducing children to martial arts from a young age has many positive benefits, we pride ourselves on offering a fun, welcoming and above all safe environment for kids to learn martial arts.

We are a UKBJJA member and we follow their best practice recommendations for all of our coaches which includes DBS checks, safe guarding and first aid training.

Building Coordination, Discipline, Focus and Confidence

Learning Jiu-Jitsu requires a child to listen, understand and then execute techniques that contain many small details. Learning to perform these techniques develops a child’s fine motor skills and teaches them a good understanding of bodily movement and balance. this doesn’t happen immediately and takes time and energy but we are always amazed at how fast children can learn and adapt.

These skills then spill over into their daily lives and aids in making them more confident and successful not just in Jiu-Jitsu but their everyday lives.

It is said that discipline and focus are like muscles that need to be trained, we try our best to make Jiu-Jitsu fun to learn but it is still complicated to learn and execute which provides a real challenge both physically and mentally for everyone involved.

You always hear that martial arts will build confidence in children, however Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has an additional aspect with which many traditional martial arts simply cannot compare.

Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling art, and therefore striking is not permitted. This allows us to practice our techniques in ‘live’ sparring with fully resisting opponents to ensure what we are teaching is actually working in a ‘real’ scenario.

You will find many traditional martial arts simply practice their movements, and can never truly tell if what they are learning would actually help them in any kind of self-defence situation.

Our ‘live’ sparring which we end every class with is also a great cardiovascular workout and ALL of the kids love that part of the class!
